Project creators

The project idea was born after Madara's three years experience as trainer working with "Girls and boys group method" in Latvia. During this time period the method reached more than 150 Latvian youngsters. The feedbacks done by Marta's center confirmed, that group work changes youngsters attitude and behaviour, increases self-confidence, involves in social activities, develops feeling of security, raises awareness of gender roles and equality thus fostering young people inclusion into society.

Why do we do it?

Madara (Latvia), trainer - I believe in the power of this project and it's capacity to "shake" our point of view about gender roles and (in)equality AND to start to reflect on ourselves, become aware our inner strenghts,  experience the differences and become ready to make the change!

Lauma (Latvia), trainer - I see woman and man as magical creators, still there is so limited knowledge about each other. I really believe by dicovering our inner values, believes we can create lighter vision for next generations

Áron (Hungary), trainer - I’m always curious to learn and share about interactions between people, especially the language we use to make a change. I believe I will learn a lot from you and hope that I can contribute to realise some useful discoveries about conversations. I’m confident that together we create a shared piece (method, tool, activity) that all of as can use to boost the change we believe.

Project organizers

Kristīne (Latvia) Life gives as new possibilities each day to know ourselves and Universe gives us all necessary resources to achieve it. Answers are all the time around us, question is - can we notice it. I know and I feel that this project will create positive changes. And persons who are involved will resonate these positive changes in their environment and it will go further. We are the ones who create our reality. WE CAN <3

Emese (Hungary) Certain groups of women, mothers of young children, Roma women, or the elderly are at a particular disadvantage. Churches (leaders and members) are often more conservative on gender issues, there is much to do on these issues. This project can help participants to have a better view and fight against gender stereotypes and support gender equality.

Ana (Georgia) This training course will be very useful for educators, teachers or social workers who are mainly working with young people at their developing age and helping them understand the ideas, topics and solutions about gender equality. It will be great chance for Georgia to improve its developing process towards gender equality.

Mia (Aland Islands) We need awareness about gender, and meting points for young people to discuss important questions about life. Who am I? What shall I do? What about friends? What about relations?

Anna (Ukraine) One of the main reasons that leads to facing gender issue in Ukraine is low level of self-confidence of Ukrainian women, lack of awareness about their rights and adherence to the stereotypes about the family that was created during soviet times. The contribution of the project due to these problems could be done by giving keys on how to increase self-confidence of young people, especially women meanwhile developing personal and professional development of youth workers.

Jala (Azerbaijan) It is important to create a gender balance by informing youth as they are our future and the future is in their hands. And having changed their view of these subjects they will change views of these subjects of the parents and it will capture wide scale.

Kristīne (Turkey) It is obvious that the social pressure on women in Turkey (strongly supported by many women themselves!) is high and do not correspond to real gender equality and current economical rhythm of the country. I’m really interested in the proper way to raise the self-confidence of women here, to discuss about life standard of women and the possibilities to raise it through the lifelong learning, hobbies, outdoor activities, arts, more active participation in social movements.

Benny (Romania) A project that approaches topics such as gender balance, youth empowerment and gender stereotypes will fill knowledge lacks acquired in daily activities, since in Romania these issues are sometimes overlooked by public and private managers, laws and even NGO environment. Although Romania made a visible progress in promoting gender equality in the last years, we are still facing many situations where women are discriminated without any rational explanation. This project will be another step in the building gender-balance global process, so that what we have the unique option to get the best practices shared by other participants and spread them within our communities.
